Landscaping Project: A landscaping project at Stinson memorial Public Library is one of the highlights of our year. The project was made possible by an endowment received from the late Lloyd Sitter. Mr. Sitter enjoyed viewing the library and its architecture from his home, so we felt it would be a fitting tribute to improve the beauty of the library with landscaping. We truly hope that the project honors his memory. The work being done for the landscaping project is being overseen by John Housman of Housman Landscaping. The primary goal of the project is to complement the natural stone exterior of the library through the additional landscaping. In addition, the project will add new sidewalks, sitting areas and a book drop, which should make access to the library easier and more enjoyable. If you are interested in seeing drawings of the complete project, stop by the library office. Anna Sesquicentennial: Make plans to visit the library during the Anna sesquicentennial celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 3. Lemonade will be available on the front lawn. Also, a historical display can be viewed at the Davie Center in Anna from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 3rd. Friends of Stinson: Friends of Stinson Memorial Library membership renewal date is July 1st. Individual membership is $5, business/organization membership is $25 and lifetime membership is $100. Membership forms are available at Stinson Library or on the library website. Friends of Stinson's current fundraiser is a raffle for an L-100 John Deere lawn tractor provided by A-J Motor Co. A limited number of tickets will be sold. Tickers are $10 each and are available at A-J Motor Co. or Stinson Library. The drawing is planned August 14th, which is Stinson Library's 90th anniversary. Proceeds will benefit library projects. The Friends of Stinson Library plan to meet at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6th; and the annual meeting is scheduled for noon at the library. |
