What Was Meant to Be

Not everyone can see
What was meant to be.

From the start of creation
God put elation
In our heart.

Ideas were mistaken
Offense was taken
And families were torn apart.

Wars ensued
Blood shed was renewed
Generation after generation.

Conflict and strife
Became a part of daily life.
Even between husband and wife.

And the children paid
In the games they played
Mock battles and war.
Seeing who could score.

But this was not meant to be.

There are places in this world
Where every boy and every girl
Are loved beyond measure.
Considered a treasure.

That was meant to be.

Nothing is sold or bought.
Generosity is taught.
Given without a thought.

That was meant to be.

Lovers find truth
In the bloom of youth.
And carry it through life
As husband and wife.

That was meant to be.
All people created equal.
Each generation sequel
To the wisdom of before.
Knowing love forevermore.

That is how it was meant to be.
